Microfiber-Knot-Resonator-Induced Energy Transferring From Vector Noise-Like Pulse to Scalar Soliton Rains in an Erbium-Doped Fiber Laser

We report on scalar soliton rains (SRs) shedding from vector square-wave noise-like pulse (NLP) by introducing a microfiber-knot-resonator (MKR) into an erbium-doped fiber (EDF) laser. The EDF laser has ultralong cavity of ?3.07 km and large anomalous cavity-dispersion, facilitating the formation NLP. Once MKR was further incorporated, comb-like filtering effect could be clearly observed emission spectrum. Apart that, SRs NLP were observed, which resulted MKR-induced energy transferring to SRs. It found that existed only along particular polarization direction, whereas NLPs in any pair orthogonal directions, despite some differences peak power. These suggest possess feature, co-circulating is package pulses. Our results represent first observation also co-existence pulses single system. Besides enriching dynamics interactions optical lasers, our extend applications area manipulations through spectral tailoring local nonlinearity engineering.
